Six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and a Taliban insurgent were killed in a clash in western Badghis province on Monday night, local officials said on Tuesday.
The clash took place in Bala Murghab district of the province when a number of Taliban insurgents attacked a military outpost and began clashing, commander of the 207th Zafar Military Corps, Gen. Dawood Shah Wafadar, said.
"An ANA soldier assisted the Taliban in the attack," Wafadar said. "All the soldiers of the outpost were killed in the clash," adding that the soldier escaped the scene.
"The Taliban have taken all the weapons from the outpost."
Investigations are underway, according to military officials.
However, the Taliban have not yet commented about the attack.
